May 5, 2006

Carolyn Wilson, AML President

DEAR MEMBERS:

DON'T MISS THE FINAL AML EVENT OF THE YEAR!

As we approach the end of the school year, we look forward to our ANNUAL SHAREFEST taking place on Tuesday, May 16th in the Panoramic Lounge at OISE, 252 Bloor St. West in Toronto.  The  event is held every year to give teachers the opportunity to share strategies and resources that have been tried and tested during the school year.   It's your chance to find out what has been happening in elementary and secondary classrooms.   Karen Ristok will examine uses of newpaper photos, Marica Lee will share ways of using advertising at the middle school level, Michelle Solomon will look at the application of cultural studies to the secondary classroom and Henry Gomez will share ways of making media studies relevant to the wider School Community .
There will also be plenty of time for questions and discussion.  For more information  on this event, visit our website at www.aml.ca

After a successful series of members events this year which included Media and Global Issues:  Getting Connected  and The Product is Youth:  Teen Marketing and the Selling of Tomorrow, we are looking ahead to 06/07 and beginning to plan events for the next academic year.  If you have any suggestions we'd love to hear them.  Contact us at events@aml.ca

And... don't forget...if you haven't registered as a member yet,

Thank you for supporting our events this year, and for your providing us with feedback on our new site.  We're glad you like it!  We have plans to add several new features over the summer months in order to provide you with access to more resources and information on developments in the media literacy field.  We welcome your input and we invite you to share your expertise.
